Dawn of Europe
By Jan Gebert & Ondřej Provazník
Europe 45 thousand years ago. First modern humans explore the frozen wilderness where herds of mammoths, reindeer and wildebeest roam. Danger lurks at every turn, and the unknown can surprise at any time. The land is only scarcely inhabited mostly by scattered bands of original Neanderthal population, our human cousins.
The two species – modern humans and Neanderthals – coexist along for thousands of years. They fight each other, they trade, they copy tools and art from each other, they interbreed. Until the modern humans gain the upper hand, while Neanderthals vanish forever only leaving a trace in our DNA, clear reminder of our mutual history.
The larp will take us to the encounter of a band of Neanderthals and a band of Sapiens for the first time. It is an extremely charged set up. It can can slip into a fight, it can slip into a party, it can slip into a business exchange or an orgy. Will the confrontation with the unknown and different species lead to a search for a common ground or will it reveal barriers that divide?
